Brian Howes is a Canadian rock producer, singer, and was a member of the band Closure. He has an exclusive partnership with EMI Music Publishing.[1]

Biography

Brian fronted the group DDT which blended punk, ska, and rap. The band was signed by Lars Ulrich from Metallica’s label through Elektra in the late 90s. DDT’s Urban Observer album was supported by the first single "Walkabout". While making the DDT record, Brian discovered a passion for songwriting and production. In 2003, his band Closure released a self-titled album.

Songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, A&R professional and studio owner; Los Angeles/Vancouver based Brian Howes has been involved in the music industry for over 25 years.

Career highlights include:

VanHowes/Interscope Records: A joint venture partnership between Howes and Jimmy Iovine (Interscope Records) NobodyHome/EMI Publishing: A joint venture partnership between Howes and Roger Faxon, (EMI Music Publishing)

Writer/Producer on Hinder Extreme Behavior (4 million sold worldwide) including single “Lips of an Angel”- #1 CHR US charts for 3 weeks. Hinder 2nd release Take it to the Limit (Certified Gold in the US).

Has written hits with Chris Daughtry including “Over You” and "What I Want" on his 5 million selling debut album. Both songs went Top 5 in the US. Has 2 more songs on Daughtry's current Platinum selling release.

Co-wrote American Idol winner David Cook’s first single “Light On” with Chris Cornell (1.5 million records sold in the US alone and Certified Platinum single), which Howes went on to win a 2010 BMI Pop Award for.

Produced/co-wrote with Boys Like Girls, including “Two is Better Than One”, featuring Taylor Swift and “Love Drunk”; both went Top 10 in the US and sold more than 4 million singles.

Produced and wrote Hedley’s “Cha Ching”, “Don’t Talk to Strangers” and “Perfect”, all multi-Platinum singles on a double platinum album. Currently producing/writing LP4 for the band.

Produced/co-wrote with Rock Band "Skillet" (Grammy nominated and Certified Gold in the US). Co-wrote #1 single "Awake and Alive".

Wrote/produced #1 rock radio track "Famous" for Puddle of Mudd, as well as three songs from their current release, including top 5 smash “Stoned”.

Produced Simple Plan's newest release which debuted Top 5 in 7 countries. First single "Jet Lag" feat. Natasha Bedingfield; going for adds in the US Aug 16th

Writer/Producer on Hedley's "Storms" album which debuted at number two on the Canadian Albums Chart, selling 23,000 copies. This album marks the band's highest album chart peak.

Produced Nickelback's "Here and Now" which is the seventh studio album by Canadian rock band Nickelback. The album was released on November 21, 2011.
